2017 was a year of many “firsts” for Boulevard Artists & our members. Deciding to visit agencies and in-house clients this year for the first time, we completed the year with 14 successful agency and client-direct visits around the country. New markets we covered this year included Portland, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia & Minneapolis, which saw agency visits in each of these cities as well as ourfirst-ever Boston & Minneapolis Boulevard Portfolio Reviews.
Our staple portfolio reviews were held all over the States, visiting Boston for a Boulevard Review in March, LAFotoWorks in April, San Francisco Boulevard Review the week after that, NYCFotoWorks Spring session in June, the Chicago Boulevard Review in September, along with the Minneapolis Boulevard Review, and we rounded out the year with our Fall NYCFotoWorks event in October.
Our list of Agencies & Clients visited is astounding, from Arnold WorldWide in Boston, Saatchi & Saatchi, Deutsch, and 72andSunny in LA, Wieden & Kennedy in Portland, Eddie Bauer and Starbucks in Seattle, JuicePharma, Deutsch, and Publicis in our home base of NYC, Energy BBDO in Chicago, Periscope and Mono in Minneapolis, and lastly, Digitas Health in Philadelphia.
2018 looks to be a year of as many “firsts” as 2017, but with a continued refinement of the things we’ve done thus far. We already have much planned for 2018 including the dates for our next round of portfolio reviews:
Boston Boulevard Review: March 20th & 21st
LAFotoWorks: April 25 & 26
Austin Boulevard Review: May 1st
Dallas Boulevard Review: May 4th
NYCFotoWorks Spring: June 19-21
Chicago Boulevard Review: September 25 & 26
NYCFotoWorks Fall: October 23-25
We will continue our agency visits in 2018 with a similar number planned for this year as last year. Cities for agency visits will include Chicago, Austin, Dallas, NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, LA, & Portland.
Some agencies & clients we intend to visit in 2018 include Leo Burnett, Nike, Y&R, The Richards Group, Droga5, GSD&M, TracyLocke, McCann, HUGE, Saatchi & Saatchi, 360i, and JCPenney.
We will also have a new website rolling out just in time for 2018: Boulevard Artists 2.0. Our new design and interface maintains the elegance and simplicity of our original design, while enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality. It’s an upgrade we’re excited to share with creatives & photographers.
And the last exciting news we have to share is that in 2018 we will take the adventurous step of creating original content among our members to send out to agencies & client direct. We’ll provide a theme to our members that they are then to interpret and create original imagery. We’ll be working with our designer to create both online and printed production materials to send out to creatives around the country featuring our artists and our inaugural original content by Boulevard Artists. Details coming in the New Year.
