Based in Minneapolis, though originally from rural South Carolina, Sara Rubinstein has had a circuitous route to becoming the professional photographer she is today. After studying plant molecular genetics, she took a job as a computer programmer. Eventually she found both the work and cubicle too confining and decided it was time for a change. After assisting advertising photographers in the area, she quickly found her own vision.
Recently Sara has been produced work for clients focused on the agricultural industry, which ironically brings her back full circle to her biology/plant molecular genetics studies. It's a curious thing when the photographer shows up for a job and knows so much about plant genetics. But as Sara believes, being well rounded and expansive in your interests often translates to making better images; being able to think on her feet and find a range of solutions to any complication that may arise.
Not only a working traveling commercial photographer, but she's also the mother of three children. With her husband enjoying being a stay-at-home dad, Sara is able to fully embrace the demands and intensity of her work. She's always shooting she says, whether at home with her family just for herself or out for a client. She believes that the authenticity of photographing her family continually breathes new life into her commercial work. A photographer who aims at capturing the full range of human emotions, Sara has found her family to be both a source of inspiration and willing subject.
Based in Columbus, Ohio though originally from Ireland, Colin moved to the States in 1992 after backpacking around a bit and crashing on friends' couches. He decided to put down roots in Columbus and enjoys his large studio space in town, though most of his work is on location. Chasing the proverbial "American Dream", McGuire has successfully established himself as a household name among clients in regional markets such as the Mid-West and Southeast. Now looking for greater exposure in order to grow his national client list, Colin has joined BLVDSelect to introduce himself to art producers who may not know of him...yet.
Colin is known among his colleagues for his dedicated work ethic and being a pleasure to work with. Much of his regular client list has grown through word of mouth, one art producer recommending him to another. As a guy who never forgets where he comes from and his good ole' assisting days, Colin keeps his feet on the ground and makes sure each shoot is a lot of fun for everyone involved. This clearly translates in his imagery and clients love working with him because of it. We're glad to have him on board and look forward to making sure art producers who know us a source for great photography come to know Colin as well.
